Located on the first floor of Schar, this room serves as a computer classroom with seating available for 19 people. This classroom includes a desktop computer, student computers, a Planar TV, a printer, and a xerox machine.

How to Use Room: Base Level Operations

  1. Turn on the computer by pressing the power button located on the back of the monitor on the bottom left side.
  2. Login using your Elon username and password.
  3. Touch the TV screen to turn it on.

1.) TV (Planar)

The front of the classroom has a Planar TV, which is a touch screen TV. Planar's T1-Visions TV is interactive and provides a dynamic classroom environment. The touchscreen has the capability to be split into several active areas.

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Touch the screen to turn it on.
  2. Touch the "Quick Start" button to begin, then you will see a screen similar to the one below.
  3. There are several different features available for this TV such as typing notes, sketching, opening a web browser, displaying a DVD, and to display what's on the desktop computer.
  4. On the bottom of most every panel, there are certain buttons that have the same function for each of the different panels.
  5. The "Pen" button allows you to draw with your finger on the panel.
  6. The "Eraser" button allows you to erase anything you've drawn on the panel with your finger.
  7. The "Color Wheel" button allows you to change the color of your pen.
  8. The "Undo" button will undo the last thing you did to the panel.
  9. The "Erase Screen" button will erase any pen marks in the panel.
  10. The "Arrow" button will ...
  11. The "Keyboard" button will make a keyboard show up on the screen that allows you type in the panel.
  12. The "Camera" button will take a screen shot of the panel that you are currently using.
  13. The "Email" button allows you to email the panel to someone as an attachment.
  14. The "Print" button allows you to print the panel you are currently using.
  15. The "Full Screen" button will make the current panel full screen.
  16. There is a "X" button at the top right of every panel that if tapped will close that panel.
  17. To adjust the size of each panel, press the button shown below and drag away or closer to the opposite corner to adjust the size of the frame.

Web Browser Instructions

  1. At the bottom left of the TV, there are several options you can choose from.
  2. To open up a new web browser, click on the "New Web Browser" option.
  3. A screen similar to the one below will appear on the TV.
  4. Google is the default page that opens up.
  5. Tap on the web browser screen, you will be able to see the URL box and other options appear below it.
  6. To navigate to a different website, tap on the URL box at the top and then use the keyboard on the screen to type in the desired site.

Note Instructions

  1. At the bottom left of the TV, there are several options you can choose from.
  2. To open up a new note, click on the "New Note" option.
  3. A screen similar to the one below will appear on the TV.
  4. Tap on the Note and a keyboard will appear that will allow you to start typing.

Sketch Instructions

  1. At the bottom left of the TV, there are several options you can choose from.
  2. To open a new note, click on the "New Sketch" option.
  3. A screen similar to the one below will appear on the TV.
  4. Tap on the screen to begin your sketch.
  5. Use your finger to draw on the screen.

Blu-ray Instructions

  1. Tap on the Blu-ray button at the bottom of the screen.
  2. A screen similar to the one below will appear on the screen.
  3. Use the play, pause, stop, fast-forward and rewind buttons on the Blu-ray screen to control the Blu-ray player.
  4. To make the Blu-ray screen full screen, click on the button circled in the photo below.

Desktop Instructions

  1. Tap on the button at the bottom of the screen that says "Input 2."
  2. To make the Desktop full screen tap on the full screen button circled in the image below.
  3. Use the Desktop computer at the podium to control the input on the screen.

2.) Student Computer (Apple)

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Turn on the computer by pressing the power button located on the back left side of the computer monitor. 
  2. Turn on the computer monitor by pressing the power button on the bottom right side of the computer monitor.
  3. Login with your Elon username and password.
  4. To power the computer off, click the Shut Down button (click the Apple button on the top left of the screen, then select Log Off or Shut Down).

3.) Desktop Computer

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Turn on the computer by pressing the power button located on the back left side of the computer monitor. 
  2. Turn on the computer monitor by pressing the power button on the bottom right side of the computer monitor.
  3. Login with your Elon username and password.
  4. To power the computer off, click the Shut Down button (click the Apple button on the top left of the screen, then select Log Off or Shut Down).

4.) Xerox Machine

  1. To use the Xerox Machine first download the Universal Xerox Driver and follow the instructions by clicking here .
    To use the Print Management Systems you MUST have a Phoenix Card handy.
  2. Once driver is installed, print normally and select Xerox-Devices on PHAROS01 as the printer.

Additional Room Features

  • Located in Schar 104 is a printing station.

Basic Operating Instructions

  1. Select HP_Printer_on_Pharos01.
  2. Send document to print.
  3. Enter Elon username.
  4. Swipe Phoenix card at the print station to print document.
