Grading with OnTrack

Elon uses OnTrack for advising, class rosters, and entering grades. The instructions below are to be used when you are entering mid-term and final semester grades.

Elon OnTrack is a secure site that allows faculty members to submit their grades electronically. To submit grades you must have an active username and password for OnTrack. If you do not have a username and password or if you have forgotten your password, please contact the Technology Help Desk at 278-5200 to receive or reset your login information.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • You only have one chance per roll. Once grades have been submitted electronically, changes to those grades must be made on paper following normal grade change procedures with the Registrar.
  • Do not use the Back button. If you use the back button before you click SUBMIT, the grades will not be saved and the student’s records will not be updated.
  • Be sure you do not get timed out! Your login times out after 30 minutes of idle time. If you get interrupted or try to calculate the grades for each individual student, you may get timed out. If you do, you will have to start over for any grade that you haven’t “submitted”.
  • Log out when you are finished. Just closing your browser does not end your session. Please be sure you log out each time you finish using OnTrack to ensure that no one will misuse the access you have been given. To log out, click the Log Out button which is located on the upper right portion of your screen.

Step One: Access the website

Navigate to the OnTrack website. Log in using your username and password. Then click on OnTrack for Faculty and choose the grading option.

Step Two: Grade a class

  1. Use the drop down box to choose the term of the class that you are grading. Click SUBMIT.
  2. Use the drop down box to choose which type of grades you will submit (midterm or final).
  3. Then check the box beside the course you would like to post grades. Click SUBMIT.
  4. Key the grades in the grade column. Please note that the “expire date” will not be used. Click SUBMIT and your student’s academic records will be updated. You will receive notification on your screen that your process is complete and you can use the menu button to choose the next class.
