Typical build and ship expectations:
During the build process, you will be presented with estimated build and ship dates that you should pay close attention to. Sometimes creating custom packages may delay the build process. Other circumstances include demand, natural disasters, and availability of parts. We have worked closely with Dell to minimize the site-to-door time frame on the pre-configured models.
As a rule of thumb, demand for computers increases throughout summer months. Therefore, we recommend purchasing your computer no later than the beginning of August to have it by the time you leave for Elon.
The Technology Service Desk is able to provide limited support to student computers, focusing on account management, wireless configurations, and other basic troubleshooting steps. For service and support involving other issues including, but not limited to, virus/spyware, spills, hardware damage, or problems with operating systems or other miscellaneous programs, please refer to your computer's warranty. Alternately, Elon has partnered with The Computer Dept. in Burlington (336-756-7654 / 1409 University Drive #102); Best Buy's Geek Squad (336-584-0297 / 1465 University Drive); Sites Computer Resources in Burlington (336-585-2032 / 1712 Westbrook Avenue); or AirTrack Devices in Burlington (336-586-9001 / 3400-A South Church Street) to honor Dell warranties and offer other support services (for a fee) to students.
